Feature Wall Finalists, Barkley Regional Airport, Paducah, KY

This Fall, Orange Barrel Industries (my collaborative duo with Blake Sanders) was juried as a top three finalist for a permanent art installation commission at the Barkley Regional Airport for their Feature Wall in the new airport terminal under construction 2022-23 in Paducah, KY. We attended a site visit, training, and put together a refined proposal with budget, community impact, and a sample artwork.

You can see our digital sketch and crochet sample as well as mockups of the proposed final piece, “Passage,” in the space below. The work was based on the local watershed surrounding the Paducah region.

Hannah March Sanders received her BFA at Tulane University and an MFA in printmaking from Louisiana State University. Along with her husband, Blake, Hannah operates http://orangebarrelindustries.com/, an artist collaborative that organizes portfolio exchanges, exhibitions and other art events. She is currently the Coordinator of the BA in Art as well as Area Head of Printmaking, and a Professor of Art in the Department of Art + Design at Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau, MO.
